Sentara inks generative AI deal

Norfolk, VA.-based Sentara Health partnered with generative artificial intelligence company RhythmX AI to build a hyper-personalized primary care experience for patients and clinicians.

The 12-hospital health system announced Feb. 22 plans to use RhthmX AI's predictive generative AI platform to provide relevant clinical and payer guideline information, early disease detection, underlying EHR data analysis and documentation support to clinicians. The move is intended to give clinicians more time to connect directly with patients during clinical visits without having to "hunt" for information.

"Our vision is to infuse personalized clinical intelligence into every visit and treatment so that physicians can deliver more personalized care while returning the joy of practice," said Jordan Asher, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical officer of Sentara, in a news release. "Sentara and RhythmX AI's joint vision is an important part of the future where all clinicians are seeing hyper-personalized intervention recommendations based on clinical, social determinants of health, mental health, and lifestyle aspects of patients that treat both the physiologic dynamics of their clinical condition and their diseases of life."

All primary care team members, including the primary care physicians, registered nurses and advanced practice providers, will use the same platform for more team-based care.

"Together we envision a new future for primary care where patient access, quality of care, and the joy of practicing medicine are all possible again through a brilliant combination of leading clinicians and technology enablement," said Michael Kaalishman, chief venture and innovation officer at Sentara.
