Samsung announces 24 health IT partners

As Samsung continues to affix itself to the health IT sphere, the Korean electronic company announced 24 digital health partners, both commercial and research partners, at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco last week.

Commercial partners include Nike, Aetna, Cigna, Cleveland Clinic, Humana, Merck, WellDoc, Skimble, dacadoo, Edamam, Fitbug, Lark and Preventice.

Research partners include University of California, San Francisco, Stanford University, imec, Bloom Technologies, EarlySense, Elfi Tech, LifeBeam, Senisifree, uptick and SleepRate.

At the conference, Samsung announced the Samsung Digital Health Platform and SDK, the company's software alternative to HealthKit, which tracks personal health metrics and syncs the information to a user's account. Additionally, Samsung's announced Simband, an open reference design platform that developers can use when designing sensors for wearable technology. The company also announced a bioprocessor that will allow device makers to integrate health monitoring into smart wearables.
