Poor integration with clinical workflow is one of the major barriers to clinical decision support success, according to a KLAS news release.
KLAS' report, "Clinical Decision Support 2011: Understanding the Impact," includes responses from 344 providers on their CDS tools' effect on clinical decisions and standardizing care. Results showed that most CDS tools performed well in one of these areas but rarely in both, according to the release. Respondents also noted a drawback of CDS tools was alert fatigue.
