Digital health companies raised $7.2 billion in venture capital funding in 2017, a 42 percent increase from $5.1 billion in 2016, according to a report by consulting firm Mercom Capital Group.
Data analytics — the most heavily funded digital health category in 2017, surpassing $1 billion — was driven by $419 million in funding directed toward artificial intelligence-based analytics, according to the report.
