Physician-led HIT company launches patient death-prevention initiative

The Joint Commission says roughly 80 percent of preventable patient care errors that result in death are associated with miscommunications during patient hand-offs. To eliminate these miscommunications, Kolkin Corp. has launched a new initiative.

Kolkin Corp. — a Newport Beach, Calif.-based, physician-led healthcare information technology and software company — launched its SOS for Patient Safety Initiative.

Under the initiative, physicians are able to download the company's SOS software, a standardized real-time patient list and hand-off tool, for free before July 31.
