Patient Engagement App Developer Wellframe Raises $1.5M From athenahealth, British Medical Association Leaders

Wellframe, developer of a post-discharge patient engagement app, has raised $1.5 million in seed funding from the leaders of several prominent healthcare organizations, according to a VentureBeat report.

Athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush, British Medical Association President Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran and former Accenture Global Managing Director Russ Nash are among the investors in Wellframe's "GPS navigation for patients."

The app is designed to help patients manage their health post-discharge, providing customized guidance, exercise and medication adherence trackers and symptom alerts. The app also allows for interactions with care providers, both through a secure messaging platform and by sending patient data to a clinician dashboard, allowing providers the opportunity to monitor the patient remotely.

"Right now the standard is to get a phone call every two weeks," said Wellframe CEO Jacob Sattelmair told VentureBeat. "We help patients feel cared for."
