Harrisburg (Pa.) Gastroenterology on April 28 notified individuals of a privacy breach that may have affected their patient information, according to a notice posted on the practice's website.
Following an investigation into potentially suspicious system activity, Harrisburg Gastroenterology on March 17 determined an unauthorized individual may have accessed the practice's patient information. The incident affected 93,323 patients, according to HHS' Office for Civil Rights' breach portal.
The information contained in the affected network server related to patients' names, demographics, Social Security numbers, insurance, diagnostics and clinical data.
"While we do not have any specific evidence that any unauthorized individual did in fact access or obtain any information from our systems, we are notifying our patients in an abundance of caution," the practice said in its notice.
Harrisburg Gastroenterology has established a dedicated call center to address patient questions and is working to enhance its existing security processes.
