ONC to Develop Patient E-Consent Pilot

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT will be launching a patient e-consent pilot program to promote the establishment of health information exchanges, according to an ONC announcement posted in the Federal Business Opportunities.

The ONC believes patient e-consent could be the first step toward building trust and giving healthcare providers access to their health records, which would also promote the exchange of their health information. A potential vendor will be chosen to help develop patient education, evaluate feedback on patient choice and conduct project management and reporting. Any interested vendors must respond by April 29.
