Steve Posnack has been named deputy national coordinator of the ONC, effective Aug. 19.
Four things to know:
1. Mr. Posnack will replace ONC's current deputy national coordinator for health information technology Jon White, MD.
2. Dr. White and Mr. Posnack will work together during the transition period before Dr. White begins his new role as associate chief of staff of research at the Veterans Administration Salt Lake City Health Care System, according to an email from an ONC spokesperson sent to Becker's Hospital Review.
3. Mr. Posnack, who currently serves as ONC's executive director of the office of technology, will continue in the position as the agency seeks a replacement.
4. Prior to his role leading ONC's technology initiatives, Mr. Posnack oversaw ONC's federal policy division.
