The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has added the position of principal deputy to its governance structure, according to a Government Printing Office document.
ONC added the position to "more effectively meet the mission" of the HITECH Act, according to the document. The principal deputy will report directly to the national coordinator and will be responsible for day-to-day operations, decision-making and staff management of ONC. The deputy will also oversee several offices within ONC.
