NurseGrid, a technology startup looking to streamline healthcare scheduling and staffing, closed a $5.7 million funding round Thursday.
Founded by nurses, NurseGrid is a single platform that helps healthcare departments better manage schedules, fill open shifts, increase staff satisfaction and boost retention. The NurseGrid app has been downloaded nearly 500,000 times, and its paid manager platform gained 99 percent support satisfaction, with 85 percent of nurses claiming the tech improved their job satisfaction after it was deployed within their department.
"The nationwide nurse shortage is a well-documented crisis in our healthcare system," said Jeff Terrell, Principal at Hatteras Venture Partners, which led NurseGrid's latest round of funding. "NurseGrid has demonstrated the ability to uniquely engage and connect with nurses to make their lives easier, to drive a broad set of efficiencies, and for health system customers to improve employee retention and job satisfaction."
NurseGrid hopes to expand its features, including designing tools to manage float staff across departments and help staff schedule themselves. It also aims to build out its mobile Jobs Board, which lets nurses look and apply for new jobs.
