Winston Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health is now connected to eHealth Exchange, the federal-level health information exchange.
Novant Health is the first healthcare system in North Carolina to join the federal HIE platform.
The health system has already been linked to the Epic HIE since Jan. 1, 2014, and has shared more than 148,000 patient records.
"The more information we can share across the country, the better we can take care of our patients," said Amy Vance, senior vice president of population health at Novant Health. "This is coordinated care at a higher level."
