The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society has given its Stage 7 Ambulatory Award to Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health — only the sixth health system in the country to earn the award.
The award means Novant has achieved the highest level on HIMSS' electronic health record adoption model for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals.
"Achieving the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award is a testament to our successful electronic health record rollout completing three years ahead of schedule and under budget," said Dave Garrett, Novant senior vice president and CIO. "With more than 200,000 MyChart users and 98 percent of providers projected to attest for meaningful use, our electronic health record has been embraced by both patients and ambulatory end users."
Earlier this year, Novant President and CEO Carl Armato said the systemwide conversion to the Epic EHR system will cost $600 million when complete.
