Three more healthcare systems will connect to North Carolina's state-run health information exchange, N.C. HealthConnex, according to Triad Business Journal.
Through the HIE, Winston-Salem-based Novant Health, Charlotte-based Carolinas HealthCare System and Durham-based Duke Health will be able to access patient records with 27 local hospitals. Wilmington-based Coastal Connect, a regional HIE focused on southeastern North Carolina, has also agreed to join N.C. HealthConnex.
N.C. HealthConnex, which is managed by an office within the state's department of IT, holds the health records of nearly 3.7 million people. It has expanded about 30 percent in the past year.
