The St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Prescot, England, is investigating a data breach in which physician trainees' personal information was published on an external IT supplier's website, a Trust spokesperson told Becker's Hospital Review in an emailed statement.
The Trust learned of the incident July 28, although it is unclear how long the information was available online prior to that date, according to the Liverpool Echo. Upon discovering the incident, the Trust immediately removed the data, which reportedly included cell phone numbers, national insurance numbers, workplaces, email addresses and home addresses.
The breach affected nearly 500 specialist trainees on the Trust's payroll, according to the Liverpool Echo. The investigation has determined risk to the physician trainees' personal security is minimal, the spokesperson said.
Trust officials are still investigating the incident, however, the spokesperson confirmed to Becker's the Trust did not post the breached information online.
