NewYork-Presbyterian is expanding its telemedicine offerings with NYP OnDemand, a digital health platform that reaches across the health system and across the continuum of care.
NYP OnDemand serves the telemedicine needs of both patients and providers. Patients can access the platform from the NewYork-Presbyterian website or mobile app for use in three service areas. They can receive second opinions from NewYork-Presbyterian specialists from ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, and faculty from New York City-based Weill Cornell Medicine; they can receive inter-hospital digital consults with specialists within NewYork-Presbyterian's regional hospital network; and they can receive digital emergency and urgent care to reduce the amount of time spent in the emergency department.
Later this year, NYP OnDemand plans to launch digital follow-up appointments, offering patients a virtual visit option instead of requiring them to come back to the office in person.
"NYP OnDemand extends the reach of our world-class doctors beyond their offices, ensuring that patients receive quality healthcare when and where it's most convenient for them," Augustine M.K. Choi, MD, interim dean of Weill Cornell Medicine, said in a statement.
In addition to serving patients, NYP OnDemand also facilitates peer-to-peer connections between physicians within the NewYork-Presbyterian system, including the NewYork-Presbyterian Telestroke Initiative which uses teleconferencing to allow stroke specialists to remotely consult on patients.
NYP OnDemand was developed by NewYork-Presbyterian's Innovation Center. The project was supported by gifts from Rita E. and Gustave M. Hauser, longtime philanthropic partners of the health system.
