A bill recently introduced into the New Hampshire House of Representatives would require insurers to offer financial incentives to patients who opted to receive care through a less expensive avenue, including telemedicine.
Sponsored by Rep. Neal Kurk (R-Hillsburough), the bill applies to patients who opt for certain healthcare services through a less expensive provider. The financial incentive would be $25 or 25 percent of the money saved, whichever is more.
The bill makes special mention of telemedicine — where only certain, mostly outpatient, in-person services are covered by the bill, "services using telemedicine" is a standalone category, positioning the bill to foster the use of telemedicine for a variety of services throughout the state.
