Nemours Children's Health System, based in Jacksonville, Fla., has partnered with telehealth provider American Well to offer patients online video visits.
Here are five things to know about the new partnership.
1. Nemours is the first pediatric health system to partner with American Well.
2. Beginning this year, patients will be able to connect with a Nemours provider via the Internet or a mobile application.
3. The telemedicine initiative will be focused on urgent care. "We'll be rolling out programs throughout the next year that can help our patients and families avoid a trip to an urgent care center or emergency department," said Carey Officer, director of service delivery innovation for Nemours.
4. Families will be able to pay for the telehealth visit with a credit or debit card at the time of service.
5. Nemours offers other telemedicine services at multiple other collaborating hospitals throughout Florida.
