MultiCare CIO receives healthcare CIO of the year award

Bradd Busick, senior vice president and chief information officer of Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System, was named CIO of the year by SeattleCIO at the 2023 Healthcare Orbie awards.

Mr. Busick was responsible for saving the health system $15 million by driving a collaborative partnership between the IT and operations department. While leading this partnership, Mr. Busick was simultaneously designing a new enterprise resource planning system and upgrading the system's EHR, according to a July 12 press release MultiCare shared with Becker's.

Additionally, Mr. Busick's team launched Moxi, a robotic nursing assistant, at several of the system's hospitals, and they are planning to offer a drone delivery service next year to transport supplies throughout the system.

Over 80 individuals were nominated for the award.

"I'm honored to receive the CIO of the year award for health care," Mr. Busick said in the press release. "But this award belongs to the outstanding team of dedicated IT professionals and my business partners we have at MultiCare. Their commitment and partnership are what makes our health system function."
