The state of Michigan will fund the full integration of its statewide prescription drug monitoring program into clinical workflows at local hospitals, physician groups and pharmacies, Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley announced June 19.
The state will use Appriss Health's PMP Gateway solution to add the statewide PDMP — called Michigan Automated Prescription System — into EHRs and pharmacy management systems. It will also implement Appriss Health's NarxCare solution to provide physicians and pharmacists with tools to identify and manage at-risk or substance use disorder patients.
"Integrating MAPS into the regular operations of prescribers and dispensers makes the system even easier to use and enhances patient protections," Mr. Calley said. "This resource will help practitioners make better decisions on prescribing to prevent opioid abuse and save the lives of Michiganders."
