Personal and health information of about 49,000 patients from the Cancer Prevention and Control Section of the Michigan Department of Community Health has been stolen, according to a Detroit News report.
The stolen records contain names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and clinical test results, according to the report.
The information had been stored on the server of a third-party company, though the department now intends to move all patient information onto the department's own secured server, according to the report.
