Miami hospital notifies 8k patients of data breach, stolen identities

Miami-based Jessie Trice Community Health Center has notified nearly 8,000 patients that their identifying information has been compromised, according to a report from CBS Miami.

While the announcement has just been made, the theft occurred in July. The FBI and IRS are currently investigating the breach as part of an identity theft operation, according to the report. No health records were compromised during the theft, according to the hospital.

The theft included patient names, dates of birth and social security numbers.
