Rockwell Collins, an avionics and IT systems company based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will soon have a telehealth clinic on its campus.
The MercyCare Community Physicians, a medical group operated through the Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based MercyCare Medical Center, will provide the medical services to Rockwell Collins' employees and family members on the company-sponsored health plan. The patients will communicate with physicians at three local clinics through secure video feeds, according to The Gazette.
Mercy provided two telehealth carts equipped with a video monitor, web camera and diagnostic equipment to the clinic. Two Mercy nurses will staff the clinic, which will be available to approximately 6,000 to 8,000 Rockwell Collins employees in the city, according to the report.
MercyCare and Rockwell Collins worked with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield to establish reimbursement parity for the visits. The company estimates that employees will save approximately $30 to $80 per visit through the telehealth clinic, according to the report.
