The records of 513 patients of Medical College of Georgia Hospital and Clinics in August, Ga., were breached when a nurse practitioner's laptop was stolen, according to an Augusta Chronicle report.
The nurse practitioner traveled between clinics in Georgia and had permission to have patient records on the computer. The data breach occurred Jan. 18.
According to the report, the patient records did not contain financial information, addresses or Social Security numbers, and risk of identify theft is low.
