Med Tech Solutions, a health IT and cloud computing company, purchased Constellation's health IT business unit.
Constellation is a holding company of policyholder-owned insurers and other organizations providing medical liability insurance and services. Last year, it announced that it would sell the health IT business unit to JDL Technologies. However, JDL's letter of intent to purchase expired, and Constellation began considering other buyers.
Bill McDonough, Constellation's president and CEO, noted that Med Tech Solutions was "dedicated to services and solutions for healthcare customers and is experienced in the electronic medical record applications our customers use."
Additionally, Constellation was looking for a buyer that would protect the jobs of existing health IT unit employees, which Med Tech Solutions intends to do.
