Nearly one month after unveiling its first selection of 10 companies, Chicago-based health IT incubator MATTER has announced private-sector financial commitments of $4.4 million, bringing the total funding for the project to $8 million.
To date, MATTER has received $2.5 million in grant money and a $1.5 million loan from the State of Illinois.
Matter is set to launch in early 2015 and is still accepting applications from entrepreneurs, according to a release.
The incubator's has numerous strategic partners, including members of the healthcare, finance, media, pharmaceutical, consulting and insurance industries, both in Chicago and nationally.
