Massachusetts is working to cut ties CGI Group, the health IT contractor responsible for the development of both Healthcare.gov and the state's health insurance exchange.
The state exchange, like its federal counterpart, has experienced a troubled rollout and is working through a backlog of thousands of applicants. Massachusetts is currently working to remove CGI from the project and has brought on UnitedHealth Group subsidiary Optum to fix the site, according to The Wall Street Journal.
CGI was also the original contractor behind Healthcare.gov. Following the problematic launch of the federal exchange site, CGI was replaced with Accenture in January.
