Maryland hospital association seeks nominations for environmental awards

Maryland Hospitals for a Healthy Environment is accepting applications for three environmental sustainability awards in healthcare.

The organization, a grant-funded initiative of the University of Maryland School of Medicine Center for Integrative Health, located in Baltimore, recognizes healthcare organizations making strides in environmental sustainability. The Trailblazer Award recognizes innovative efforts in sustainability; the Environmental Health Nursing Award is presented to nurses who represent sustainability, and the Physician for Environmental Health Award, a brand new distinction, is given to physicians who advocate for environmental sustainability.

Award applications are due by March 27, with a decision to come April 24, according to a news release.

Past award winners include Greater Baltimore Medical Center, University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Medstar Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore and the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Md., according to the news release.
