Merger and acquisition activity year-to-date in the healthcare/pharmacy information and technology industry has increased 19 percent compared to the first three quarters of 2011, according to a trend report by Berkery Noyes, an independent mid-market investment bank.
The report analyzes M&A activity for the industry during the first three quarters of 2012 and compares data covering 2011. Although the deal volume has increased compared to 2011, the volume and value of deals from the second to third quarter of 2012 dropped 7 percent from 96 to 89 deals. Total transaction value in the third quarter of 2012 dropped from $4.2 billion to $3.9 billion.
