Kansas City brings telemedicine to City Hall

Kansas City's City Hall is bringing healthcare to its employees.

On July 1, the building opened a telemedicine kiosk, according to a Kansas City Business Journal report. The kiosk is the result of a relationship between Kansas City Health Care Trust, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and Mosaic Life Care.

The service is available to city employees, retirees, their spouses and dependents older than 18 who are covered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, according to the report. Patients do not have to pay a deductible or co-pay.

A registered nurse collects patients' medical information and symptoms and then relays the information to a physician or nurse practitioner. The remote providers, all with Mosaic Life Care, can then diagnose conditions and write any necessary prescriptions.
