Kaiser Permanente Ontario (Calif.) Medical Center has reached HIMSS Analytics stage 7, the highest level of electronic health record progress a hospital or health system can attain.
The hospital, which opened in 2011, becomes the 37th within Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente to have been awarded stage 7 from HIMSS. Kaiser has the most stage 7 hospitals of any health system in the country.
According to HIMSS Analytics, there are only 161 stage 7 hospitals in the country as of December 2013.
"Kaiser Permanente has long been a pioneer in health information technology, and it is an honor to have another one of our hospitals recognized for its commitment to technology enabled care," said John Mattison, MD, CMIO and assistant medical director for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, in a news release.
