The Nebraska Health Information Initiative is now linked to the Iowa Health Information Network, allowing providers on both exchanges to use Direct messaging to query patient records.
"It benefits the people who live in Iowa and Nebraska because we've proven healthcare doesn't stop at state lines," said Deb Bass, executive director of the Nebraska Health Information Initiative, in a Daily Iowan report. "[It] saves time, improves safety and prevents redundancies."
The Nebraska Health Information Initiative is also connected to the Kansas Health Information Network and the Missouri Health Connection. Kim Norby, executive director of Iowa E-Health, the organization that runs the Iowa Health Information Exchange, told the Daily Iowan the HIE is linked to exchanges in Illinois, Missouri and South Dakota.
