Forty-three percent of healthcare workers say that the biggest challenges in becoming more data-driven are disconnected or incompatible systems, according to an Aug. 8 report from Harvard Business Review Analytic Services.
The report, dubbed "Innovation in Data-Driven Healthcare," analyzed the impact of data and technology in healthcare and surveyed 757 members of the Harvard Business Review audience who work in healthcare.
The survey found that 94 percent of respondents said that using data to drive healthcare creates new opportunities for more personalized healthcare, but barriers such as funding, silos and lack of analytics skills are holding organizations back.
Seventy percent of respondents also said that data-driven healthcare could create additional risks for patient data privacy and security.
Managing data was another challenge, with 68 percent of respondents saying their organizations use software applications or tools to pull together data.
