IBM Watson Group has invested in Pathways Genomics to power and deliver a consumer-facing app that will use genomic data to deliver personalized health information.
The app, Pathway Panorama, will utilize Watson's big data and natural language processing capabilities and combine the data with information regarding an individual's personal lifestyle and biomarkers to provide options to help that individual make decisions about healthy living.
Users will be able to ask the app questions regarding overall wellness and lifestyle, to which the app will respond using collected information from a number of data sources and Watson's body of knowledge.
"By tapping into IBM Watson's cognitive computing capabilities, Pathway Genomics is allowing consumers to ask health-related questions in their own words and receive personalized and relevant responses," said Stephen Gold, vice president of IBM Watson Group.
The app is expected to become available in mid-2015, according to a WXYZ report.
