IBM Watson Health, Novartis collaborate for breast cancer care

IBM Watson Health and Novartis joined forces to personalize breast cancer treatment.

Novartis, a Switzerland-based pharmaceutical company, will use its expertise in breast cancer therapies alongside IBM Watson Health's cognitive computing capabilities. The two companies will develop a cognitive solution that uses real-world data and analytics to provide physicians with insight into optimal breast cancer treatment combinations for individual patients.

"As the industry shifts toward value-based care, it's critical for clinicians to understand the real-world outcomes of therapeutics on subsets of their patients, and our goal ultimately is to put those insights into oncologists' hands," said Anil Jain, MD, chief medical informatics officer at IBM Watson Health.
