Sources from global computing giant IBM said Thursday the company plans to reassign up to 30 percent of its staff working in its computer service delivery business this year, according to The Register.
That division of the company employs 103,000 workers, and as part of the reassignment, job losses through attrition could reach 10,000.
IBM beat revenue expectations in its last quarterly results released in October after posting 22 straight quarters of declines, The Register reports.
An IBM spokesperson would neither confirm nor deny the reassignments, but told The Register, "As IBM has said in the past, we are focused on redeploying and reskilling our workforce globally, and IBM is substantially increasing its investment in professional development and technical training to focus on our strategic initiatives."
