IBM's global head of blockchain for financial services and digital currencies Jesse Lund abruptly left the company, according to CoinDesk.
On LinkedIn, Mr. Lund confirmed he had left IBM but was still optimistic in blockchain technology.
At IBM, Mr. Lund played a key role in developing the company's World Wire payments network, which uses a blockchain to help banks more easily conduct cross-border payments. Today, World Wire has payment locations in 72 countries, with 48 currencies and 46 banking endpoints, reports CoinDesk.
IBM has indicated that the World Wire will not be affected by Mr. Lund's departure.
