In 2014, slightly more than 25 percent of electronic health record users said they plan to invest more in EHRs in the upcoming year, according to a report from EHR comparison resource Software Advice.
The report also asked respondents to rate how well their EHRs deliver on the key benefits the government and proponents say EHRs provide.
Here are 10 benefits users said EHRs either deliver "very well" or "well."
1. Easy access to records: 87 percent
2. More robust/legible records: 86 percent
3. Drug interaction alerts: 79 percent
4. More accurate/profitable billing: 79 percent
5. Critical lab value alerts: 69 percent
6. Improved population tracking: 72 percent
7. Preventive care reminders: 67 percent
8. Coordination with other providers: 67 percent
9. Improved outcomes tracking: 61 percent
10. Improved patient engagement: 60 percent
