Nearly two-thirds — 63 percent — of oncologists say their smartphone is essential to how they practice medicine today, according to a Digital Insights Group survey.
The top three clinical apps oncologists use on their smartphone or tablet are:
• Epocrates: 71 percent
• Medscape: 69 percent
• UpToDate: 64 percent
However, the top app used by oncologists overall is YouTube, as 72 percent report using the app.
Oncologists use a variety of digital devices: 38 percent report using four devices — a desktop, laptop, tablet and phone — on a regular basis. Just 18 percent use one device.
Survey data is based on responses from a randomly selected sample of medical oncologists and hematologists/oncologists.
