Houston Methodist has connected to the Greater Houston Healthconnect, a regional health information exchange serving 23 counties in southeast Texas.
Greater Houston Healthconnect has been operational since 2012. With the addition of Houston Methodist, 12 hospitals and health systems are now connected on the HIE in addition to other physician practices, pharmacies, laboratories, emergency services and public health departments.
"This go-live represents another quantum increase in the volume of clinical information exchanged through Healthconnect," Healthconnect CEO Nick Bonvino said in a statement. "The foresight and vision of organizations such as Houston Methodist has enabled us to build something unique in Houston that can be sustained for the long term benefit of our communities."
