The city of Houston has recently committed $1.6 million toward an electronic health record system, according to a Houston Business Journal report.
The project will allow the city to better communicate with Greater Houston Healthconnect, a regional health information organization, according to the report.
"We encourage this kind of investment in technology because it enables data to be stored in a format that can easily flow among institutions," Greater Houston Healthconnect said in a response to the city's announcement, according to the report. "We're looking forward to connecting the city's new system with the entire area for true communitywide interoperability."
