The Dorenfest Institute for Health Information Technology, Research and Education, run by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Foundation, has announced the release of its 2011 data on hospitals' use of health IT, to be used free of charge by universities, U.S. government entities and foreign governments.
The 2011 edition of the HIMSS Analytics Database contains information on health IT use among 5,400 hospitals and 26,000 ambulatory facilities in the U.S.
"With this new 2011 data released through the HIMSS Foundation, the Dorenfest Institute continues to offer an extensive and valuable online resource for eligible researchers," said R. Norris Orms, executive vice president and COO of HIMSS, in the release. "Access to this data helps meet the academic and global demand for health IT data to improve patient care."
