HIMSS names 'Most Influential Women in Health IT' for 2019

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society unveiled the names of its "Most Influential Women in Health IT" award recipients Nov. 27.

HIMSS established the award in 2016 to recognize influential women who have contributed to the health IT field, including "individuals who harness the power of information and technology to transform health and healthcare; are unique among power lists and award programs; and are inclusive of all women of influence, no matter where they may be in the health information and technology field."

Each year, recipients are selected by a committee comprising past awardees.

The five 2019 award recipients, listed in alphabetical order:

  • Aashima Gupta: Global head of healthcare solutions at Google Cloud
  • Kisha Hortman Hawthorne, PhD: Senior vice president and CIO at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
  • Christine A. Hudak, PhD, RN: Health informatics program director and professor of health informatics at Kent State University's school of information in Ohio
  • Lygeia Ricciardi: Chief transformation officer at healthcare software company Carium
  • Heather Sulkers: Senior director of the enterprise project management office and clinical informatics with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, a hospital in Toronto
