HIMSS names Harold 'Hal' Wolf CEO: 4 things to know

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society appointed Harold "Hal" Wolf III its president and CEO.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Wolf.

1. Mr. Wolf has served HIMSS for four years, including two years as an advisor to the board and two years as a member of the board of directors. He will succeed H. Stephen Lieber, who will retire as president and CEO of HIMSS after more than 17 years.

2. Mr. Wolf currently serves as director of practice leader information and digital health strategy for The Chartis Group, an advisory and analytics services firm. He oversees the firm's work to support healthcare organizations develop integrated information, digital health and precision medicine strategies.

3. Prior to joining The Chartis Group, Mr. Wolf was senior vice president and COO of Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente's Permanente Federation, driving the organization forward through one of its most critical phases.

4. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business from Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Science in textile management from Raleigh-based North Carolina State University.
