HIMSS expands international executive team: 4 things to know

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society appointed two executive members to its international team, the professional society announced May 14.

Here are four things to know about the additions.

1. HIMSS named Charles Alessi, MD, chief clinical officer of HIMSS International. In this role, Dr. Alessi will work to build relationships among the organization's clinician-focused communities.

2. Dr. Alessi will continue to serve as senior advisor for public health England in addition to his role at HIMSS International. He boasts 25-plus years of experience in healthcare policy and clinical practice, and recently chaired the U.K. National Association of Primary Care.

3. HIMSS appointed Bruce Steinberg, who maintains 30-plus years of experience growing international businesses, managing director and executive vice president of HIMSS International.

4. Mr. Steinberg will continue to serve as a member of the Council for Beyond Type 1 and trustee of the Unforgettable Foundation. In the past, he has worked with organizations like MTV Europe and People Tree.

"HIMSS has been making tremendous strides in fostering innovation and sustainable transformation of health on a global level," Hal Wolf, president and CEO of HIMSS, said in a May 14 statement.
