HHS has welcomed its third cohort of "entrepreneurs-in-residence," private sector technology experts who will spend one year working with the agency on its health IT endeavors, according to a report from The Washington Post.
The third cohort includes:
- Paula Braun, data scientist with Charlottesville, Va.-based Elder Research. Ms. Braun will work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to refine its predictive modeling capabilities.
- David Portnoy, chief technology officer of Chicago-based Symbiosis Health. Mr. Portnoy will work with HHS' CIO and the CIO's team to link data sets among governmental agencies.
- Danny Boice, chief technology officer and co-founder of Sterling, Va.-based Speek. Mr. Boice will work with HHS to help elderly and disabled citizens remain informed about their health service options.
- Mark Scrimshire, chief technology officer at New York-based Medyear. Mr. Scrimshire will help with the CMS redesign of Blue Button.
The entrepreneurship program is part of a larger federal push to encourage creativity in problem solving in government, according to the Post report.
