Hearst Health, a recently launched brand under Hearst Corp., will encompass the company's health IT offerings including its existing businesses, a venture fund and an innovation lab.
Hearst estimates more than 75 percent of patients discharged from hospitals benefitted from care guidance and clinical decision support from one of Hearst's current companies, including drug knowledge database FDB, evidence-based care plan provider Zynx Health, healthcare guideline developer MCG or software-as-service vendor Homecare Homebase.
Hearst Health will encompass all these companies, as well as a venture capital fund to invest in external health IT startups and a lab to develop new technologies and innovations internally.
"Our companies complement each other under their shared mission of putting vital information into the hands of everyone who touches a person's health journey," said Richard P. Malloch, president of Hearst Business Media, in a news release. "Establishing the Hearst Health brand will elevate the awareness of what we do in the healthcare marketplace."
