HealtHIE Georgia, a Clayton-based network of rural hospitals, has connected with Georgia Health Information Network, a statewide health information exchange.
By increasing provider access to patient records, the two organizations hope to improve patient care; for example, by streamlining workflow, reducing duplicate testing and cutting administrative costs.
HealtHIE Georgia has connected two hospitals — Fitzgerald, Ga.-based Dorminy Medical Center and Hazlehurst, Ga.-based Jeff Davis Hospital — and 20 clinics to GaHIN during phase one of the project. In phase two, HealtHIE Georgia will add six more hospitals and additional providers to the network.
