Hawaii Health System joins statewide HIE

Honolulu-based Hawaii Health Systems Corp. has signed an agreement with Hawaii Health Information Exchange to start making patient data available online to other providers and hospitals in the state, according to a Pacific Business News report.

Hawaii Health Systems Corp. oversees 13 state medical facilities and will begin sharing secure, encrypted clinical data on the HIE from its West Hawaii and Maui regions, according to the report.

"Being a part of the Hawaii HIE will allow us to share critical data within our system and with other providers to improve care coordination that results in better health outcomes for our patients," said Linda Rosen, MD, CEO of Hawaii Health System Corp.

The Hawaii HIE was established in 2006. Current partners on the HIE include Castle Medical Center in Kailua, Hawaii, Honolulu-based Hawaii Pacific Health, The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu and HMSA, also in Honolulu.
