Hackensack (N.J.) Meridian Health announced Dec. 19 that it had joined the New York Genome Center along with Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in Washington, D.C.
The two health systems will help the genome center develop and administer the latest medicine for patients. Per the agreement, Hackensack Meridian Health's Center for Discovery and Innovation and John Theurer Cancer Center will focus on exploring how genetics relate to behavioral disorders.
Researchers and clinicians at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center will focus on how advanced genetic analysis can be better used to treat aggressive cancers.
"The Center for Discovery and Innovation is a key element of our mission to transform healthcare and lead toward the future," said Robert Garret, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. "The John Theurer Cancer Center continues to provide the most advanced care currently available. Through our new partnerships at the New York Genome Center, patients in New Jersey and beyond will benefit from the latest technologies for personalized medicine."
